Route Description

OS Landranger sheet 41 (Ben Nevis, Fort William & surrounding area)

Heritage Information

This route runs from Kinlochmore to the site of the 1st World War POW camp.

Ciaran refers to a lost change house and drove stance that lay between Lochan Inbhir and Lochan-na-Salach Uidhre, now submerged in the combined waters of the Blackwater Reservoir. The drove road from the Lairig Leacach came through Gleann Iolairean and down the Ciaran Water to Ciaran and from there a drove road ran east to meet the Road to the Isles near the ford over the Allt Eigheach, and another headed south by Allt nam Fuarean to Kingshouse in Glencoe.
