Route Description

Start from the A83 road at the head of Loch Fyne and walk along the private road to the bridge 1km beyond Glenfyne Lodge. Cross to the east side of the glen and continue up the road to the reservoir on the Allt na Lairige. Go along the south side of the reservoir and continue by pathless and boggy ground over the Lairig Arnan to the end of another road on the north side of the Allt Arnan. Go down this road to Glen Falloch Farm, just over 1km north of Inverarnan. It is also possible to reach Inverarnan more directly down the hillside beside the Allt Arnan.

OS Landranger 50 (Glen Orchy) or 56 (Loch Lomond & Inveraray)

Heritage Information

Drovers are said to have brought cattle from Glen Fyne to Glen Falloch via this route using the Lairig Arnan.

Inverarnan is the famous drovers’ inn of the 18th and 19th centuries and a favoured hostelry (as the White House) of climbers in the pre-war era.
