Route Description

South to north:
Heading through the Chalamain Gap is an alternative finish to the route through the Lairig Ghru. Just below the site of the now demolished Sinclair Memorial Hut (NH959037), a path branches to the right. It leads north on a gradual ascent to the Creag a' Chalamain gap and then goes north-east to cross the Allt Mor by the bridge near the reindeer enclosure and joins the Coire Cas road 2.5km south-east of Loch Morlich.

Heritage Information

This route through the Chalamain Gap was a feeder to the Lairig Ghru, and likely would have been used by drovers trying to get to Braemar from Nethybridge. However, as it links the Thieves' Road to the Lairig Ghru, a longer and more nefarious history can be surmised .
